Your new role Analyse field performance, warranty data, build issues, and cost drivers. Redesign components and assemblies to simplify build and assembly, improve manufacturability and serviceability, increase reliability and durability, and reduce unnecessary complexity. Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve existing machines and influence future product architectures. Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers to convert improvement ideas into robust, production‑ready designs. Support prototype builds, trials, and validation activities on live machines Own engineering changes through design release and introduction into production. Contribute to new product development by embedding learning from existing platforms into early concept decisions, system layouts, and design standards What you'll need to succeed Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline Experience working in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product development environments Demonstrated experience improving existing products through redesign, simplification, or engineering optimisation Practical understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, including tolerances and production constraints Experience applying DFM/DFA principles to influence design decisions on current products or during early development phases Experience using 3D CAD and engineering design tools, or a strong interest in developing advanced design and digital validation skills Exposure to new product development activities, with an interest in influencing designs from early concept through to production Experience with mobile machinery, heavy equipment, hydraulics, or structural assemblies is beneficial, but not essential.
