Overview
We are working with a regional Tier 2 contractor based near Newbury. The company are a privately owned, profitable business who work solely across the South of England and deliver quality, defect-free schemes to clients. They target schemes between GBP 8 and GBP 35 million on frameworks and repeat business opportunities with long-term clients. Typical schemes include care developments, schools and multi-phased education schemes, student accommodation, PRS developments, office and residential schemes, hotels and multi-use retail and leisure developments.
The role includes early involvement at tender and bid stage, working with the estimating, design and commercial teams to establish specifications, phasing, strategy and then forming the initial construction programme. You will update and amend both the overall programme as well as individual programmes and phases for each package of works on site until the final bid/tender is submitted. You will then be responsible for managing the programme through to start on site with the delivery and be expected to regularly visit site, update both short and long-term programmes, identify opportunities to save time and look ahead to identify clashes and other issues on site. You will work with the design team and supply chain to ensure packages are released on time and all bespoke items are let in good time, and monitor progress to ensure key dates are met. You will continue to work with the commercial and design teams to evolve and adapt future bids and programmes for best practice.
Responsibilities
* Assist with forming and updating the overall construction programme and individual package programmes during tender and post-tender phases.
* Regularly visit site to update short- and long-term programmes, identify time-saving opportunities, clashes, and potential issues.
* Coordinate with design teams and supply chain to ensure timely release of work packages and timely letting of bespoke items.
* Monitor progress to ensure key dates are met and adjust plans as needed.
* Collaborate with commercial and design teams to evolve and improve future bids and programmes.
Qualifications
* Experience with a regional contractor on schemes above GBP 3 million and exposure to both D and B projects and framework negotiations.
* Strong work practices, attention to detail, and organisational skills with the ability to identify opportunities and potential issues.
* Proficiency with planning software such as Asta and 4Projects; experience working with BIM and BREEAM.
