Part-Time Commercial Solicitor / Legal Counsel
Part-Time - 4-Days per week
Location: Newcastle | Contract: 6 months | Salary: £53,000 FTE pro rata
We are looking for a commercially minded solicitor to step into a fast-moving business and make an immediate impact. This is a varied in-house role covering commercial contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance, and general legal support across the business. You will be advising teams directly, keeping projects moving, and ensuring legal risk is managed in a practical, business-focused way.

The role
You will be responsible for:
* Providing day-to-day commercial legal advice across contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance, and general business matters
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements including service agreements, NDAs, consultancy agreements, employment documents, and supplier/customer contracts
* Supporting privacy and data protection activities, including internal policies and GDPR guidance
* Maintaining legal templates, registers, and documentation, and liaising with external counsel when specialist advice is needed
* Helping business teams navigate legal risk with clear, practical guidance
This is a hands-on role where you will work across teams and projects, helping the business maintain momentum during a key fixed-term period.
About you
* Qualified solicitor with strong post-qualification experience in commercial law
* Experienced drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, and providing practical legal advice in a business environment
* Solid understanding of data protection, privacy, and GDPR compliance
* Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing quality
* Comfortable working independently and collaborating with non-legal stakeholders
