Assistant Accountant (developmental role with professional study support) - St. Austell - £25-35,000

Trial Balance Consulting have been engaged by a high profile and regarded not-for-profit organisation that has experienced huge growth in recent years, through both expansion of services and internal headcount. They now seek to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. Nothing unusual so far.
The difference here is that this employer wants the successful candidate to train and quite quickly progress to a far higher level - Head of Finance. As the organisation continues to grow, the existing HoF will be seeking to take a further step up, but not before they have a solid second in command in place. They’ve no intention of holding back on their investment into the successful candidate with fully supported and financed professional study support (either ACCA or CIMA).
Key responsibilities (initially!):
- Support the Finance Director and Head of Finance in maintaining the financial health of the organisation
- Play a lead role in the production of detailed management accounts with financial commentary
- Assist in the upkeep of the AP/AR function
- Monitor and develop key controls and accounting processes
- Support production of year end accounts
- Variance analysis
- Support senior finance team with ongoing financial projects
- VAT reporting to include partial exemption calculations
For this role we seek a candidate with genuine ambition and a real hunger to advance their career - quickly. Suitable applicants will probably, though not essentially be operating to at least AAT level 3/4 though exceptional QBE’s or those that have already commenced professional study will be happily considered; applicants from both practice, commercial or not-for-profit environments considered. Please note that the role will likely be unsuitable for candidate’s not seeking to gain a professional qualification.
