Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive professional to identify and escalate cases that meet the criteria for formal safeguarding reviews. In this role, you will:
* Assess and identify cases requiring notification to the local authority for:
o Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPRs)
o Child Death Overview Panels (CDOPs)
o Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs)
o Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs)
* Ensure timely and accurate referrals in line with statutory guidance and local safeguarding protocols.
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to support learning and improvement from serious incidents.
This role is critical in promoting accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify appropriate cases for notification to the local authority of the need for Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Child Death Overview Panels, Domestic Homicide Reviews and Safeguarding Adults Reviews.
* Research Police systems to provide a detailed chronology of involvement in the life of the individual subject to the review.
* Assess the Police activity and involvement in respect of the subject to ensure compliance with law, procedure, and approved practice.
* Compile the Police Independent Management Report (IMR) detailing the force involvement with the subject.
* Represent South Yorkshire Police at review meetings and present information, providing explanations where required, drawing conclusions, and making appropriate recommendations.
* Complete internal and external research in respect of the protection of vulnerable people. Complete analysis to determine local and national trends, prepare forecasts and present information in the form of reports and briefings.
* Identify areas of learning in light of local and national developments identifying changes to force policy, procedure and approved practice.
* Assist PVP Performance and Governance Team to implement policy, procedural instructions, and action plans.
* Attend meetings and conferences within force and externally to represent South Yorkshire Police.
* Maintain the PVP Governance Department website and ensure updates are disseminated effectively within Force and to partner agencies where appropriate.
* Complete duties commensurate to band profile in support of departmental needs
Skills And Experience
* Previous administrative and computer experience, including ability to update and interrogate systems. Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Demonstrate previous experience of working in a confidential environment where handling of sensitive information could have an effect on others.
* Experience of working effectively within a multi-agency/partnership setting and of driving forward multi-agency work
* Experience of summarising and presenting information ideally to a wide range of agencies.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
