We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Children's Neuro orthopaedic team.
The post holder will work within the children's physiotherapy team and orthopaedic surgery team, providing specialist physiotherapy to children with neuro-disabilities.
They will demonstrate competence in the history taking and examination of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). The new postholder will be expected to develop collation of outcome measures for children presenting to the orthopaedic neuro-disability service; provide pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation programmes for selected patients; and support/liaise with community physiotherapists for the continuation of care.
Additionally, they will work collaboratively with inpatient physiotherapists, highly specialised nurses, and occupational therapists to ensure an optimal patient journey, especially in the peri-operative period.
They will provide leadership within the children's Physiotherapy teams, demonstrating high standards of leadership skills and behaviours.
Key relationships will be with the Multidisciplinary team at both Leeds and regional hospitals.
The post holder will contribute to the paediatric out-of-hours service at Leeds Children's Hospital.
This post is for 4 days per week, including Tuesday and Wednesday.
Main duties of the job
We have an opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working with children in an integrated multidisciplinary team. This post has been developed to support the management of children with complex neurological conditions requiring surgical assessment of their hips & SEML surgery (Single Event Multi Level).
The role involves collating information from CPIPS and the gait laboratory, assisting in assessment and surgical decisions. The post holder will support inpatient therapists and outpatient services for these patients around the time of surgery to ensure a smooth patient pathway and liaise closely with other hospitals for ongoing management. They will act as the link person for families in this service. The neuro-orthopaedic service at Leeds Children's Hospital continues to grow, and this role will involve ongoing service development.
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, nursing staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, play therapists, dieticians, and psychologists. They will also liaise with other agencies supporting children and families.

As an experienced physiotherapist, the jobholder will assist in coordinating team activities and outpatient services, ensuring efficient service provision. They will provide training, supervision, and clinical expertise to staff and students.
As a lead clinician, they will act as a role model, promoting evidence-based practice, developing the physiotherapy team, and managing the team in the absence of the clinical service manager.
