This is an exciting opportunity for a Genitourinary Medicine Consultant to help deliver and shape the future of Sexual Health and HIV services in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. These newly created posts are based at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and include regular clinics in Bassetlaw.
The role will be based between the City Campus at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and Community Clinics in Bassetlaw, North Nottinghamshire. The candidates will provide all aspects of integrated Sexual Health Care, with a focus on level 3 STI care.
They will provide outpatient HIV care for a cohort of people living with HIV in the Bassetlaw and Nottingham City area. There are no direct inpatient responsibilities, although ward in-reach for HIV and GUM support is provided when patients are under the care of other specialty teams.
Opportunities for special interest clinics may be available depending on the skills and expertise of the candidate, which could include Prison sexual healthcare, Psychosexual, complex PrEP, complex GUM, or Genital Dermatology.
The department supports the development of personal research interests and regularly acts as a recruiting centre for national and international trials in HIV and GUM.
As a teaching hospital, NUH supports an active training programme for resident doctors and hosts medical students from Nottingham University. The candidate will be involved in teaching and training both undergraduates and postgraduates.
The NUH Sexual Health service, along with other Royal College of Physicians Group 1 Medical Services / Specialties at NUH, provides a 0.5 PA job planned contribution per new Consultant appointment to support the generalist needs of patients.

The HIV cohort includes 1,400 patients, with outpatient care delivered alongside the Infectious Disease team. Nottingham is part of the Trent HIV Network, which has an active MDT for complex cases and antiretroviral prescribing.
