Overview
Abbey College Manchester are seeking a Counsellor to work as part of our pastoral team to provide one-to-one counselling to college students from the UK and 30 countries worldwide for February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will have, or be working towards, appropriate accreditation with BACP, UKCP, APC, BAAT or similar, and hold or be working towards a postgraduate qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy. A friendly demeanor fitting with the ethos of the College and a welcoming and non-judgmental attitude are crucial. Experience of working with young people is essential. The role will be one day a week during term time.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one counselling to college students (including international students).
* Work as part of the pastoral team to support student welfare and personal development.
* Contribute to safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people in alignment with College policy.
Requirements / Qualifications

Abbey College Manchester was founded in 1990 and, over the past thirty plus years, has become one of the leading providers of independent sixth form education in Greater Manchester. There are normally about 200-220 students in the college. Around 30% are from the Manchester area, with the remainder from 40 different countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
