Solar & Battery Electrician – Residential Renewables

About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and motivated Solar & Battery Electrician to join our growing residential renewables programme. You will play a key role in transforming homes into sustainable energy hubs by installing, testing, and commissioning solar PV and domestic battery storage systems. Working as part of an established delivery team, you'll carry out installations in occupied homes, ensuring a professional, safe, and customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and commission residential solar PV systems (on‑roof and in‑roof)
* Install and configure domestic battery storage systems
* Complete AC/DC wiring, inverter installation, and system setup
* Perform consumer unit upgrades where required
* Carry out testing, inspection, and certification of all completed works
* Troubleshoot electrical issues to ensure optimal system performance
* Follow BS 7671, MCS standards, and all site RAMS/H&S requirements
* Coordinate professionally with Site Managers, supervisors, and residents
* Maintain accurate installation records and handover documentation
Skills & Experience
* Strong knowledge of high- and low‑voltage electrical systems
* Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
* Skilled in use of hand tools, power tools, and roofing/installation equipment
* Comfortable working safely on rooftops, ladders, and scaffolding
* Experience installing solar PV in domestic properties (essential)
* Experience with battery storage systems (essential)
* Construction site experience; ability to operate forklifts is a bonus
Required Qualifications
* Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
* 18th Edition (BS 7671)
* ECS/CSCS card
* Inspection & Testing (2391 or equivalent)
* MCS experience or familiarity with MCS standards
* Experience working in occupied residential properties
* Experience in retrofit or energy‑efficiency programmes (advantageous)
