Rate of Pay: £19.79 - £25.17 per hour
Summary:
As a member of the Council Tax Team within the Revenues and Benefits Service, you will provide administrative and customer-focused support to ensure the prompt billing and collection of Council Tax. Working within the Enabling Services Directorate, your role is vital in helping the Council meet its performance targets and aspirations while supporting the broader "Shropshire Plan" to improve the lives of residents and businesses across the county
Responsibilities:
* Accurately maintaining and updating Council Tax account records using the Councils computer systems to facilitate prompt billing
* Assisting in the effective collection of outstanding Council Tax and proposing/checking refunds for accounts in credit
* Negotiating and monitoring payment arrangements within the guidelines of the Councils collection policy.
* Communicating with external agencies (e.g., DWP, CAB, employers) and internal officers regarding liability, billing, and collection matters
Qualifications:
* Evidence of relevant qualifications listed on your application form will be required during pre-employment checks
Essentials:
* Direct experience working with Council Tax is required for this assignment.
* Ability to use Council computer systems and maintain accurate digital records.
* Strong verbal and written skills to handle complex customer enquiries and negotiate payment plans

* This role requires a Basic DBS
