About the Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trained Armourer. Ideal candidates will hold a recognised current military or civilian armourers/maintainers qualification for small arms and ammunition, be proficient in weapon fault diagnosis, servicing and repair techniques and have experience of the Taser device and storage of explosives.
Based at: Staffordshire Police Headquarters with a requirement to frequently attend other bases across the Force area so applicants need a full driving licence.
The Force Armourer supports both the Firearms Training Unit and the wider Armed Policing Unit in respect of the maintenance, service and inspection of firearms, less-lethal weapons, ammunition and ancillary equipment that is possessed by Staffordshire Police. The role ensures all weapons and equipment meet strict operational, legal, and safety standards, supporting the readiness of police officers and specialist units for armed operations.
The post holder must also be willing to attend specialist weapon and ammunition training by manufacturers of Police supplied weapons in excess of the basic Armourers qualification.
Essential Criteria: The post holder must hold a recognised current military or civilian Armourers/Maintainers qualifications for small arms and ammunition and have a full driving licence.
