Health Care Assistant - Evenings (18:00-23:00)

Are you wanting to start or develop your careerproviding NHS care to patients in their own homes? Does working evening shiftssuit your work-life balance? If so, an opportunity has arisen for a Band 3Health Care Assistant within the District Nursing Service to work 4 eveningshifts (18.00-23.00) a week.

Youwill provide nursing care to patients in the community setting under thedirection of a qualified nurse. The District Nursing service operates sevendays a week including bank holidays to provide quality nursing care to patients intheir own homes.

Dueto the nature of the role it is essential that you are able to drive, have a car suitable for business purposes, and hold a clean driving licence.


Main duties of the job

Youwill provide nursing care to patients with varying needs in the community.

You will need to workindependently within a team structure, and will possess excellent communicationskills, be enthusiastic, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for providing high quality, personalised care topatients in their own home/residential setting as part of the District Nursingservice.

The post holder will work under indirect supervision and undertake tasksand duties delegated by the Registered Nurse and will work collaboratively withinthe team to meet the needs of the patients and the service.

Other

* Ability to recognise own limitations.
* Flexible and able to use own initiative.
* Reliable and professional.
* Car Driver with a valid license to drive in the UK.


Qualifications

* Good standard of general education including English Language & Maths
* GCSE or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 or able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience and training/development or willing to work towards.


Skills

* Ability to effectively manage own time and prioritise own workload.
* Ability to work as both an individual and member of a team.
* Good standard of verbal, written and interpersonal skills.


Experience

* Previous experience of working or volunteering in a health or social care
* setting or life experience of caring for others.


Knowledge

* Understanding of factors that influence health and wellbeing.
* Understanding of privacy and dignity in care.
* Understanding of safeguarding.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£24,937 to £26,598 a year+5% HCAS per annum, pro rata
