The Role
As a Senior Combat System Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering operationally effective naval combat systems and supporting the Royal Navy’s Strike Net programme.
Day-to-day, you’ll work within a team of Combat System Engineers to plan and execute integration, test, evaluation, and acceptance activities, ensuring that complex maritime systems meet operational requirements. You will also support the development of a Design Authority, conduct sea trials, and produce the evidence required for safe system integration.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Lead and direct subordinate CSEs on technical matters related to Strike Net development
2. Engage with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to understand requirements
3. Produce test plans, execute trials and conduct post-trial analysis
4. Generate technical documentation including Supporting Evidence for Certificates of Safe Integration
5. Deliver progress reports to senior technical and project staff
6. Conduct sea trials on Royal Navy ships
Essential experience of the Senior Combat System Engineer:
7. Experience in maritime combat systems and system-of-systems technology
8. Proven track record in integration, test and evaluation of complex systems
9. Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers in technical tasks
10. Experience in producing technical artefacts for operational approval
11. Awareness of Test & Evaluation or Integration processes
12. Ability to work with military and civilian teams in a collaborative environment
Essential qualifications for the Senior Combat System Engineer:
13. Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics, or similar
14. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or willingness to work towards
15. HNC/D level qualification may be accepted with appropriate experience

This role is full-time per week based at Portsdown Technology Park (PTP). Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected. Opportunities to support sea trials on board Royal Navy ships
