Deputy Manager

CONTRACT: Permanent position
SALARY: NJC pay point 29 – 38 (£39,862.00 - £49,282.00 per annum)
CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time
HOURS OF WORK: 09:00 – 16:30 Monday, 08:30 – 16:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with 30 minutes unpaid breaktime. There may also be weekends, evenings and sleep-ins, bank holidays plus you will undertake on call duties
CLOSING DATE: Midnight Sunday 22nd February 2026
INTERVIEW DATE: W/C 2nd March 2026
START DATE: ASAP

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager to join our established and proudly rated outstanding home at William Henry Smith Therapeutic Children's Home and join our Leadership and Management Team. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive individual who has a strong commitment to ensuring all within their care are both safe and cared for. They must be nurturing and supportive, with excellent communication skills and can form strong relationships with children and young people, team members, parents and carers and key stakeholder partners.

Purpose Of Job:

* To support the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home and development. To deputise in the absence of the manager, having ownership of William Henry Smith Therapeutic Children's Home.

* Through effective professional leadership and management, support the Registered Manager to create a safe environment in which children and young people, and team members feel emotionally and physically secure, thus facilitating the guidance and development of their self-esteem and full potential.

* To have excellent knowledge and understanding of the complex needs of children and young people in care and utilise this in applying the Model of Care to support the development of both children, young people, and team members.

* In partnership with the Registered Manager, be responsible for developing, updating, and delivering the aims and objectives of the Home’s Statement of Purpose and lead, support, encourage, and manage the care team to deliver the same.

* To promote appropriate positive, respectful, and effective therapeutic relationships between team members, children and young people, their families/carers and key stakeholder partners.

* To encourage children and young people's active involvement and participation in the day-to-day running of William Henry Smith Therapeutic Children's Home.

* To promote and celebrate diversity, collaboration, and equality in William Henry Smith Therapeutic Children's Home at all times.

About You:
* Personally aligned with our values and committed to our mission
* Proven experience working within children’s residential homes, with relevant experience in a senior role
* Level 4 Health and Social Care or NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Persons Workforce qualification or near completion.
* Have or be enrolled on a Level 5 Management, or willing to work towards achieving this
* Be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, Children's Home Regulations, Quality Standards and relevant legislation
* Act as a role model; be able to empower, motivate and provide a high level of support for the team and young people
* Demonstrate experience of acting ethically, with integrity and empathy as well as commitment to working towards these values
* Be passionate in motivating, inspiring and safeguarding young people, and the team members in their care
* Have a proven track record in supervising and managing people
* Embrace and support William Henry Smith Therapeutic Children's Home Quality of Life and Positive Behaviour Support ethos
* Ensure that Quality of Life underpins all work with children & young people/families and fellow colleagues
* Have the ability to develop positive and sustainable relationships with children and young people
* Be a creative and reflective individual who inspires confidence in meeting the needs of our young people
* Be highly motivated and able to contribute to collaborative working with colleagues and wider partners
* Be able to demonstrate resilience, motivation and commitment
* Have the ability to promote and celebrate diversity, collaboration, and equality at all times
* Be honest and act with integrity, be trustworthy and understand the need for confidentiality.
