The Role:
You’ll be part of the Data & AI Team, playing a key role in the club’s transformation into a fully data-driven organisation. The team delivers powerful insights, builds trusted data products, and operates modern data platforms that enable better decisions and success on and off the pitch.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key part in this transformation. In this role, you’ll help build and maintain our central club insights platform. Democratising access to data and curated analyses throughout the club and building cutting edge, bespoke applications.
We are seeking skilled technical experts across the software development life cycle, and recognise that candidates will bring different strengths and areas of specialism. Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
1. Design, build and maintain high-quality full-stack web applications that make the club’s data accessible, actionable and valuable.
2. Work closely with data engineers and platform engineers to consume APIs and data services, surfacing data through intuitive applications.
3. Contribute to the evolution of our central club insights platform, embedding powerful data tools and visualisations across football and business functions.
4. Deliver front-end applications and back-end services, with a focus on performance, reliability and user experience.
5. Promote engineering excellence by shaping and upholding coding standards, patterns and best practices.
6. Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers and supporting a culture of continuous learning, innovation and high-quality delivery.
7. We work in an agile environment, operating in a rapid build phase where we iterate quickly with our users and
continuously refine our products.
The Person:
8. Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js and Node.js in production.
9. Proven track record delivering end-to-end web applications in a modern cloud environment.
10. Confidence integrating with APIs and working with data-centric back-end services.
11. Good understanding of testing, CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
12. Ability to translate business needs into simple, elegant technical solutions.
13. Effective communicator who can work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
14. Passion for using data and technology to improve performance in high-performance environments such as elite sport.
