A Little More About Your Role…
We are looking for an experienced professional with strong capability in groundwater and water environment EIA to lead technically complex projects across the UK and internationally. We can appoint at either Principal or Senior level depending on experience and offer flexible and hybrid working, with opportunities across multiple UK offices.
Why this role is a strong opportunity
Lead major infrastructure EIA and groundwater investigations — You will guide technical inputs for nationally significant projects, including planning and DCO submissions for the energy, water, transport and power sectors.
Shape our groundwater and water EIA capability — You will influence how WSP delivers assessments across groundwater, WFD, hydrogeology, peatland, water resources and environmental permitting.
Collaborate within a highly skilled national team — You will work with specialists across Sustainable Water Management and Earth and Environment, with access to some of the most exciting infrastructure portfolios in the UK.
Mentor and Grow Others — You will develop junior colleagues and help strengthen senior technical capability within the national team.
Flexible locations and career pathways — We have growth opportunities in Newcastle, Glasgow, Bristol, London and Liverpool, with roles also available in Manchester, Leeds, Wrexham and Basingstoke.
What You Will Do...
* Lead and coordinate groundwater and water environment inputs for EIA, WFD and major infrastructure planning.
* Manage client relationships, project delivery, scope, budget and programme.
* Review and assure technical outputs, with Principal roles providing final approval.
* Contribute to proposals and help develop new business opportunities.
* Provide technical guidance, training and support to junior colleagues.
* Contribute to innovation and development of WSPs groundwater and water EIA services.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the UK.
What You Will Bring...
* Experience in groundwater and wider water EIA, including groundwater investigations, hydrogeological assessments, WFD and related studies.
* Experience supporting planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects, ideally including DCO processes for Principal level.
* Strong understanding of the UK regulatory context for groundwater, water environment assessment and EIA.
* Ability to manage project budgets, risks and teams appropriate to your grade.
* Strong communication skills with experience managing client and stakeholder relationships.
* A degree in environmental, geographical, science or engineering disciplines.
* Chartered status (LGS or CIWEM) for Principal roles, or working toward chartership for Senior roles.
