An opportunity has arisen for a Rodent Import and Export Coordinator to join our busy biomedical services team within Cambridge.

The role holder will be responsible for development and implementation of complex processes to coordinate the import, export and transfer of live rodents, and cryo-preserved stocks (embryos and other specimens) to meet research requirements within a large multi-user biomedical facility, as well as local arrangements across other University of Cambridge biofacilities. This will require working closely with other teams within the building, and key contacts across the department at all levels, as well as other external organisations both within and outside of the UK. You will need to ensure all necessary documents, licences and authorities are in place for the movement of animals, and that appropriate health status checks are carried out. All whilst ensuring the welfare of line animals in transit be treated with utmost importance.

The role will provide general administrative assistance to support daily functions and operations within the biomedical facility and across the wider department as necessary. This will include supporting inductions, maintenance of databases and spreadsheets, meeting administration and data reporting.

As Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Archivist, the role holder will also be responsible for the appropriate storage and, where neccessary retrieval, of all study data from non-clinical studies in accordance with GLP approved protocols.

The successful applicant will have administrative experience, ideally from supporting operations of a designated establishment or research facility. They will be organised and motivated to manage their own workload, with a proven record of meeting multiple deadlines. Educated to A Level standard (or equivalent) with excellent communication skills, able to communicate with individuals at all levels. Knowledge of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, the importance of animals welfare, as well as import and export requirements for line animals and cryopreserved specimens would also be an advantage.

In addition to the base salary stated above, the successful candidate for this post will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.
