About Us
HomeGround Café is a busy, community-focused social enterprise café in central Milton Keynes. We serve excellent coffee and delicious food, including freshly cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and cakes.
We care about quality of our food and were not a microwave-and-reheat operation. We cook to order.
The Role:
Currently we are open Monday to Friday and from April, we plan to open on the weekends too. Therefore, were looking for a hands-on Weekend Chef who can:
Cook traditional English breakfasts to order
Prepare fresh sandwiches and jacket potatoes
Work confidently during busy breakfast and lunch rushes
Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
Contribute creative ideas for specials
Keep the kitchen organised, clean and compliant
This is a fast-paced but friendly environment. Youll need to be calm under pressure and take pride in producing food that looks and tastes great.
About You
You'll have experience in a café or breakfast-led kitchen, however we open to talented amateur cooks who have what it takes to succeed.
If youve spent years cooking for a big family, love feeding people, work quickly and take pride in flavour and presentation, wed love to hear from you. Passion and work ethic matter.
You will need to be:
Someone who enjoys cooking from scratch
Creative and open to trying new ideas
Able to work with speed and consistency
Organised and clean in your working habits
Reliable and punctual
We especially want to hear from you if you have Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene, Knowledge and practical experience of HACCP and an understanding of COSHH.
(Sometimes weekday shifts may become available on an ad-hoc basis.)
