Our Customer Payroll team plays a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely payments that directly support customer wellbeing. We’re looking for a Payroll Operations Subject Matter Expert to bring technical payroll expertise, strong analytical skills and a collaborative mindset to our high‑performing team. What you'll be doing:
* Providing expert technical support across payroll processing, reporting and operational controls
* Leading on complex payroll queries, investigations and escalations
* Supporting system, process and control improvements including testing and documentation updates
* Conducting quality checks and monitoring activity to ensure accuracy and risk alignment
* Ensuring regulatory, legislative and internal process requirements are understood and applied
* Identifying and recommending opportunities for continuous improvement across teams
* Supporting colleagues with consistent training, guidance and technical knowledge
* Contributing SME insight to projects, audits, initiatives and wider business engagement
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* Strong experience in pension payroll environments, ideally with 10,000+ volume processing
* Solid understanding of payroll processes, reconciliations, exceptions management and variance analysis
* Confidence in analysing and interpreting financial and technical payroll data
* Ability to engage, influence and collaborate with colleagues across different teams
* Strong awareness of payroll regulation, risk and controls
* Ability to apply sound judgement and problem‑solving in complex scenarios
* Commitment to delivering fair customer outcomes and embedding Conduct Risk principles
* Adaptability, initiative and a positive approach to change and continuous improvement
