Role: As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of a £40 million mechanical works package within a high-security, high-integrity environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the coordination, engineering, and delivery of complex mechanical systems including HVAC, process pipework, and specialist nuclear services. Assist in the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical works including HVAC, process piping, specialist nuclear services, and associated infrastructure. Collaborate with designers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure system integration and technical alignment with project objectives. Monitor site activities for mechanical installations, ensuring progress, quality, and compliance with project specifications and regulations. Manage technical submittals, RFIs, design change notices, and ensure traceability in accordance with project QA/QC protocols. Support the procurement and inspection of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring conformance with specification and delivery schedules. Review method statements and risk assessments to ensure safety and regulatory standards are met. Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities. Prepare and update technical documentation including progress reports, handover packs, and O&M manuals. Provide technical support and input during design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability assessments. Work closely with the health and safety team to promote a strong safety culture on-site. Qualifications: HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent). Experience in large-value mechanical packages, preferably within nuclear, defence, or highly secure government sectors. Strong understanding of mechanical installation practices, systems commissioning, and QA/QC processes in a regulated environment. Familiarity with UK building regulations, nuclear safety standards (ONR, JSP, etc.), and CDM regulations.
