A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Blackpool is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team on a full-time, long-term contract for the full academic year. This vital role focuses on providing targeted support to pupils with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and significant behavioural needs across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The Role: Making a Lasting Impact
This position is a crucial role within the school's dedicated Inclusion/SEN team, helping students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
* Implement bespoke behaviour intervention plans and therapeutic strategies to de-escalate crisis situations and promote self-regulation among challenging pupils.
* Provide tailored academic, social, and emotional support to students with EHCPs, ensuring they can access the mainstream secondary curriculum.
* Act as a consistent and trusted mentor, building strong, positive relationships with vulnerable students to improve their engagement and attendance.
* Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, pastoral leaders, and external agencies to track progress and contribute to EHC Plan reviews.
* Assist teachers in managing the classroom environment effectively to maintain a safe and productive learning space.
Essential Requirements
Significant, recent experience supporting young people (aged 11-16) with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH needs is essential.
* A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent vocational experience (e.g., Youth Worker, Care Worker).
* Demonstrable knowledge of effective de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies (e.g., Team Teach is desirable).
* Exceptional resilience, a calm demeanour, and a consistent, patient approach.
* A firm commitment to the entire contract duration: November 2025 - July 2026.

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Academic Year Contract.
Hours: 5 days a week, term-time only.
Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025.
Salary: Competitive daily rate, commensurate with experience in specialist behavioural support.
