At Haskoning, our Environment, Resilience and Renewables advice group are looking for an experienced Coastal & Marine Processes Specialist to support the delivery of our environmental services across a diverse range of projects. We are one of the most experienced consultancies in the UK supporting the growth of the marine sector, with decades of global experience and 18+ years dedicated to UK offshore wind. We deliver integrated environmental and technical services across the full project lifecycle from site selection, consenting, engineering design and post-construction monitoring. Due to continued growth in a variety of markets including offshore wind, ports and coastal resilience, we are looking to grow our team.
About you
You will work across a diverse portfolio of coastal and marine projects, joining a 25+ strong technical team specialising in physical processes, oceanography, geomorphology, geophysics and coastal resilience. In this role, you will lead the delivery of marine and coastal processes environmental impact assessments, as well as bespoke coastal and seabed studies. Your work will support a wide range of development activities, including offshore wind, port and coastal infrastructure, subsea cables and pipelines, dredging, and habitat creation. You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement and provide expert technical advice to clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Deliver a wide range of marine and coastal processes assessments, ensuring high quality outputs.
* Analyse, interpret, and present diverse marine and coastal datasets, including outputs from numerical models, applying robust analytical methods.
* Stay up to date with emerging research, methodologies, and guidance in coastal and marine physical processes, contributing to internal research and development.
* Develop and deliver new or improved technical services, driving continuous improvement and capability growth.
* Lead effective stakeholder consultation, building strong relationships and facilitating informed dialogue.
* Provide clear, evidence based advice to colleagues and clients to support decision making.
* Contribute to the preparation of proposals and tenders, supporting business development activities.
* Manage projects and maintain strong client engagement, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and quality expectations.
* Mentor and support early career colleagues, helping to develop technical skills and build team capability.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
* A degree in a relevant discipline such as geography, geology, oceanography, environmental science, engineering, or a related field, a postgraduate qualification is preferred.
* Significant experience in industry, consultancy, or a regulatory environment, with a proven track record of delivering high quality work.
* Specialist knowledge of physical processes in marine, coastal, and estuarine environments.
* Strong analytical skills, including experience in data analysis and visualisation using GIS, experience with programming/scripting tool is desirable.
* Experience engaging with regulators and key stakeholders, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
* Confidence in client-facing roles, demonstrating professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
* Commercial awareness, including understanding of market trends and opportunities for service growth.
* Robust project and financial management capabilities, ensuring delivery to time, quality, and budget.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
* A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach to work.
* Professional membership of a relevant industry body (or working towards it).
