We are looking for a Welfare Officer who is compassionate, has strong interpersonal skills, and can work effectively as part of a team or independently. DMWS is an international charity that has provided medical welfare support to the armed forces community for over 80 years. We are recruiting a Welfare Officer to support the Armed Forces Community at hospitals under University of Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust (QE) and Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) Birmingham.
Responsibilities
* Support access to non-clinical resources and services for the armed forces community on-site at the hospital.
* Address challenges that can affect recovery, including mental health concerns, housing, finances, social isolation, and related issues.
* Contribute to the holistic model of provision focusing on physical, psychosocial, and mental health/wellbeing to prevent readmission and support timely discharge.
* Work with healthcare professionals, patients, and families to coordinate support and ensure appropriate referrals.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in family and carers welfare is desirable.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
* Commitment to supporting the armed forces community.
* Applicants must hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle (required for this role).
