Specialist carer grade 6 (band 3 equivalent) pt

Barnet
NHS
Posted: 8 September
Offer description

Overview

The Ark, Byng Rd, Barnet, Greater London, EN5 4NP is seeking a part-time Specialist Carer to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The role is a part-time contract (minimum 22.5 hours) with opportunities for training to a more specialist level. A full UK driving license and access to a car are required. The role may involve days, evenings, nights and weekends. You will be paid travel time, have car parking reimbursed, and receive a generous mileage allowance.

Main duties and responsibilities

* Provide life-changing care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, working in collaboration with families, multidisciplinary teams and Noah’s Ark colleagues.
* Put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do; understand clinical needs and what is important to each child (e.g., favourite songs, how they like to play, what soothes them).
* Support children to experience activities they may not have thought possible; focus on what children can do rather than limitations.
* Care for children at The Ark or out in the community, enabling parents and carers to take time for themselves and providing them with greater choice.
* Contribute to end-of-life care as a guiding, reassuring presence for families and work with other healthcare professionals to maximise comfort.

About Noah’s Ark

We exist to help babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families, make the most of every day. Our mission is to enable those we support to enjoy life as children, not patients; as families, not just as carers. We work in collaboration with NHS Trusts and other care providers and provide support in homes, in the community, or at our building, The Ark, in Barnet.

About the role

We’re expanding our team and are looking for more Specialist Carers to join our charity. You’ll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team, who empower children and families to experience as much life as possible.

You’ll be encouraged to put the experiences and needs of children and families at the heart of all you do. You’ll understand clinical needs and what’s important to each child.

By providing care for children at The Ark or in the community, you’ll enable parents and carers to have time for themselves, enhancing life outside their child’s condition. Your commitment to families continues through end-of-life care.

About you

* You’ll have experience working with babies, children and young people in a health, education or social setting. You’ll understand the power of play and enjoy creating experiences and activities for those you care for.
* We look for individuals who share our core values of kindness, excellence and courage, and we’ll support you to go above and beyond for the children and families we support.
* You’ll thrive working autonomously and be confident delivering care in the community. You’ll value collaboration and work with your team, other healthcare professionals and families to provide excellent care.
* Creativity and play will be central to your approach, with the ability to build long-term relationships with children and families.
* You will be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends. You will have a full UK driving license and access to your own car. Travel time is paid, parking is reimbursed and a generous mileage allowance is provided.

Diversity, DBS and other requirements

Please note we will only be accepting direct applications for this role. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications, so please apply early.
