CAD CAM Engineer
Location: Consett, DH8
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30 (40 hours/week)
Contract: Permanent (6-month probation)
Salary: Discussed at interview
About the Role
We're looking for a proactive and highly motivated CAD CAM Engineer to join our engineering team at a manufacturing site in the Consett area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, precision design work, and collaborating across departments to deliver bespoke engineered products.
What You'll Be Doing
* Designing and programming custom products based on customer specifications.
* Creating accurate BOMs, routings, and volume data.
* Producing engineering drawings and 3D models using Radan, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
* Supporting sales and quotations teams with technical drawings and clarifications.
* Conducting tooling audits to support production efficiency.
* Working closely with shop-floor leaders to resolve production queries.
* Providing realistic timescales for customer orders.
* Performing nesting for standard and bespoke components.
* Contributing to new product development and industrialisation projects.
* Programming samples for R&D and technical teams.
* Troubleshooting machine, programming, and production issues.
* Carrying out additional duties as required by the CAD CAM Team Leader.
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with engineering/manufacturing drawings (desirable).
* Strong CAD skills — ideally Radan, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
* Understanding of sheet-metal production processes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
* Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
* Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
* Basic Excel and Word skills.
* Knowledge of database systems (preferred).
* Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism.
* Willingness to travel occasionally.
* A valid UK driving licence (preferred).
