Locum Pharmacist - Band 8a
Rate - £30-£35 (Negotiable)
About the Role
We are working in partnership with an NHS service to recruit a dedicated and motivated Pharmacist to join a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide pharmacy services in line with GPhC standards, SOPs, and contractual requirements
2. Clinically check prescriptions for appropriateness, interactions, contraindications, and dosing
3. Dispense and supervise dispensing activity accurately and safely
4. Provide patient counselling on medication use, side effects, adherence, and self-care
5. Support and supervise pharmacy teams (technicians, dispensers, counter staff) and maintain efficient workflow
6. Manage controlled drugs and ensure safe storage, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance
7. Provide NHS and private services where commissioned and trained (site dependent), such as:
8. New Medicine Service (NMS)
9. Medicines Use Reviews (where applicable/commissioned)
10. Vaccinations (e.g., flu/COVID, where authorised)
11. Minor ailments advice and signposting
12. Liaise with prescribers, GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescribing queries
