Senior Specialist: Billing – Revenue Cycle Operations Team, London office, 6‑month fixed‑term contract.
Standard working hours: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, with flexibility as required by the business.
Working‑from‑home policy allows up to two days per week, subject to business needs (not part of contractual terms).
Responsibilities
* Perform end‑to‑end billing, including e‑billing, for international offices such as London, Brussels, Dubai, Tokyo and support for Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore, ensuring timely and accurate invoice generation.
* Liaise with Partners, Associates and clients to promptly resolve billing queries and align with client guidelines.
* Share knowledge and best practice to support lawyers and secretaries in delivering complex billing solutions.
* Supervise and mentor junior billing staff, providing guidance, training and performance feedback.
* Provide technical guidance and training to other teams as required.
* Collaborate with Finance, Client Services and Legal teams to streamline billing processes and implement best practices.
* Monitor WIP and proactively address issues to support billing targets.
* Assist with working capital management – produce and circulate WIP and billing information as requested.
* Assist in the development and rollout of billing policies, procedures and system enhancements.
* Support audits and compliance initiatives related to billing and revenue recognition.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the billing function.
* Work as part of a team committed to providing professional, high‑quality support service at all times.
* Ensure statutory compliance with HMRC, global tax and Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
* Provide subject‑matter expertise on projects or initiatives as required.
* Assist the Billing Manager with projects as required.
* Achieve full statutory compliance with VAT, AML and the SRA Accounts Rules and adhere to internal financial controls and policies for all transactions and processes.
* Drive change and deliver best‑in‑class service to the firm and its clients.

Qualifications

* Proven experience in legal billing, preferably within a global law firm or professional services environment.
* Strong understanding of billing systems (e.g., Elite 3E, Aderant) and financial reporting tools, with a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior billing position.
* Sound knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and VAT for law firm billing.
* Experience with e‑billing across multiple software platforms.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and cultures.
* Leadership potential and a passion for mentoring and developing others.
* High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with professionalism and poise.
