Lead Service Designer

We’re looking for a Lead Service Designer to help shape how Capacity embeds user‑centred and co‑production approaches across our work.
This senior design role is part of the Public Sector Innovation team. It involves building internal design practice, tools and standards while leading service design on external projects with partners such as local authorities and communities. You will represent the Head of Public Sector Innovation’s design direction, oversee day‑to‑day design direction, assure quality across workstreams, mentor others and help grow a sustainable design capability within Capacity.
Responsibilities
Lead and represent design direction, embed inclusive, agile, user‑centred methods, assure quality and mentor.
Qualifications
* Communicate design strategy effectively across teams and organisations.
* Have expertise in user‑centred and co‑production methods.
* Significant experience as a service designer, including leading design in complex public services or social innovation.
* Ability to develop close and trusting relationships with public and third‑sector leaders and other key partners.
* Experience of capability building, training or mentoring others in design or agile methods.
