Major Recruitment is seeking a Production Shift Manager to join our client at their manufacturing site near Burton Upon Trent.
The Production Shift Manager will be a key team member within the SLT, responsible for daily manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement activities to achieve operational results and standards. You will oversee all operations concerning Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SQCDM), communicate effectively with internal and external customers, and ensure all business and customer targets are met.
Key Responsibilities as Production Shift Manager:
* Ensure sufficient shift resources and address any plan variations.
* Ensure all Operators perform duties to the required standards and products meet specifications.
* Responsible for the health & safety of all shift staff.
* Manage shift rotas and crew sizes within budget, including agency staff.
* Control processes to meet quality and output targets.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance People, Quality, and Profit.
* Manage service levels to ensure timely, complete deliveries without complaints.
* Train and coach Operators.
* Plan Overtime and manage absences.
* Maintain work pace at required levels.
* Coordinate start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
* Complete shift reports and communicate plans and target achievements.
* Liaise with Engineering, Planning, Technical, and Purchasing teams.
* Perform duties within your training level.
* Manage the site's food safety culture to prevent deviations affecting safety, quality, or legality.
* Adhere to company policies and procedures relevant to the site and environment.
* Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
* Handle disciplinary hearings and conduct one-to-ones.
* Cover for the Production Manager when necessary.

* Monday - Friday shifts, rotating 6am - 2pm & 2pm - 10pm

Skills & Experience Required:
* At least 2 years' experience in high-care, short shelf-life food production
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively
* Experience leading teams through change
* Proven ability to develop others and foster decision-making and accountability
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement processes
* BRCG experience
* Experience managing engineering functions
Qualifications:
* HACCP Level 3 or 4 (desirable)
* Health & Safety qualification (desirable)
