At Otter Vets, we’re proud to have been caring for pets in Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary for over 150 years and we’re now looking for an experienced Small Animal Vet to join our friendly and passionate team.

This role is primarily based at our Sidmouth branch however you’ll also need to travel regularly to our Ottery St Mary site. Our Sidmouth branch is currently undergoing some thoughtful modernisation. The space includes a cosy reception, one consult room backing onto a well‑stocked dispensary, a large and light operating theatre, kennels and cattery, in‑house lab, office space and a staff area with endless tea, coffee, and (of course) biscuits. There are some elements of sole charge, so being confident in your clinical skills is key.

* Provide well‑balanced consultations and surgeries, with dedicated admin time each day to stay on top of notes.
* Perform routine surgeries such as spays, castrates, lump removals and soft tissue procedures; refer orthopaedics when needed.
* Support by digital X‑ray, ultrasound, tonometer, IDEXX suite; work with nurses who run their own clinics.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experienced Small Animal Veterinarian with a strong clinical skill set.
* Comfortable working independently on consults and surgeries.

Community & Culture
Be part of a practice that gives back. From hosting dog shows and coffee mornings to offering annual community grants, we believe in giving back. In 2025, we’re proud to be supporting Hounds for Heroes and Sidmouth Independent Lifeboats, just one more way we keep compassion at the heart of what we do.
Work Schedule
This is a full‑time role, working 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, with just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (8:30am‑1pm) and no out‑of‑hours. We’re open to part‑time hours, school‑time shifts or other flexible arrangements.
