The Opportunity
Are you considering a new challenge in the geotechnical field? We are looking for a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer to lead our Ground Engineering Group, ideally based in Edinburgh but other locations will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Support team growth and provide project leadership.
* Participate in geotechnical investigation campaigns and design structures.
* Act as a technical reviewer and make decisions and recommendations for UK programmes in energy, land development, and infrastructure.
* Lead and direct large‑scale geotechnical studies, identifying and mitigating risks.
* Manage complex technical situations and advise on new methods, practices, and tools.
* Engage in staff leadership, coaching, and development.
* Contribute to service proposals and expand Stantec’s geotechnical discipline across the UK and Ireland.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, geology, or a related field (MEng in Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
* Extensive relevant experience, especially on infrastructure projects.
* Chartered membership with the ICE or Geological Society preferred; otherwise actively pursuing chartership.
* Excellent technical writing skills for interpretative reports.
* Proven experience in design and analysis of geotechnical structures.
* Strong leadership abilities in managing teams.
* Passion for delivering quality geotechnical solutions.
