Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to join the practice development team as a Clinical Educator. This role will include mandatory and essential to role training, service activity, preceptorship programmes and clinical placements in line with Trust policies, procedures and national guidelines. Supporting new staff through the preceptorship and induction programmes and provide access to education and training to ensure both new and existing staff maintain required skills and competencies. Ensure training is evidence based and updated annually.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and be up to date and confident with all clinical skills.

We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour.

At Royal Derby Hospital there are:

* 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite.
* Four bedded Midwife led birth centre.
* Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay

At Queens Hospital Burton there are:

• 7 delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.

and at Samuel Johnson Community Hospital currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.


Main duties of the job

* Teach and facilitate learning of a wide range of staff from HCA's, MSW's, midwives and the multi-professional team in line with the Maternity Incentive Scheme and Core Competency Framework
* Offer clinical and pastoral support to newly qualified midwives.
* Organise induction programs for a wide range of staff and liaise with the various departments within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton(UHDB) essential to the planning of such programs.
* Support the Senior Clinical Educator with international recruitment, OSCE and competency process.
* Support and facilitate learning opportunities for fetal monitoring learning.
* Support introduction of new equipment, pathways of care, guidance, assist with audit and lead on various projects.
* Liaise with the professional development teams from nursing, AHP's and clinical skills.
