Job Summary – Care Home Chef
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Chef to join our team, delivering high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. The role involves preparing and cooking balanced menus that meet dietary needs, preferences, and medical requirements, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. As part of the care home team, the chef plays a vital role in supporting residents' health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure all meals are presented attractively and served in a timely manner.
* Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen at all times.
* Manage kitchen supplies, including stock control, ordering, and waste reduction.
* Supervise and support kitchen assistants, ensuring high standards of teamwork and service.
* Comply with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and HACCP procedures.
* Engage positively with residents where appropriate, considering their feedback and preferences in menu planning.
* Participate in audits, inspections, and staff training to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm, Zero hours contract
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 40 per week
Experience:
* Care home cook: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* DBS (preferred)
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)
