SAFEGUARDING & WELLBEING OFFICER - REF 2604108Up to £27,162 p.a. Situated in Leyland, Lancashire, the College is near the M6, M61 and M65 and within commuting distance of Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District.We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer to join our established Safeguarding and Wellbeing team. This role has a specific focus on supporting learners who have intersectional vulnerability sitting alongside safeguarding needs.About the RoleIn this role, you will provide proactive, timely and effective safeguarding and wellbeing support to students where concerns have been identified. The post holder will manage a defined caseload, working closely with curriculum teams and external agencies to deliver early help, targeted and crisis intervention, ensuring that students are safe, well and able to engage positively with learning.A core element of the role is oversight and direct support for learners deemed to be vulnerable, ensuring the College can confidently evidence impact, inclusion and safeguarding effectiveness, ensuring barriers are minimised and students can thrive.Focus on Vulnerable CohortsAt Runshaw College, vulnerable safeguarded cohorts include, but are not limited to:Learners who are Children in Care or Care ExperiencedYoung people living independently.Learners subject to Child Protection plans, Child in Need plans or Early Help supportLearners with poor attendance, disengagement or behaviour concerns linked to safeguarding or wellbeingLearners known to, or at risk of involvement with, youth justice or police servicesLearners who have caring responsibilities.The successful candidate will ensure these learners are identified early, supported effectively and monitored robustly, with clear evidence of impact on safety, attendance, engagement and outcomes, in line with statutory expectations.Your responsibilities will include:Act as a first response to safeguarding and wellbeing referrals.Coordinate early help and targeted interventions, working effectively with families and external agenciesMaintain accurate, high-quality safeguarding records, suitable for audit and inspection scrutinySupport transition, enrolment and induction for vulnerable learners, ensuring wrap-around support is in place from the outsetContribute to a strong, open safeguarding culture across the College, including staff training and awareness activityWork collaboratively with curriculum areas to reduce barriers to attendance, engagement and achievementKeep up to date with safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and Ofsted expectationsThis is a full-time role (37 hours per week), but we understand flexibility is important.
