Are you an experienced pharmacy technician passionate about improving patient care in a specialised palliative care environment and ready to take the next step in your career by joining a pro-active inpatient clinical team?

We are seeking to recruit a clinical pharmacy technician to join the clinical pharmacy team based at Marie Curie Hospice. The post holder will be working closely with the clinical pharmacist, members of the multidisciplinary team in patient-facing roles across the two inpatient wards, and liaising colleagues in the community pharmacy setting. The role will be varied, covering multiple aspects of the medicines management process, patient counselling and supporting members of the MDT. The role is integral to ensure that the pharmacy service contributes to delivering the highest level of patient care.

About the Role

This post is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technician to join the pharmacy team at Marie Curie Hospice delivering the highest quality pharmacy services across the inpatient hospice wards. Working in partnership with the clinical pharmacist and wider multidisciplinary team you will:

* Play a key role in the pharmaceutical care of patients.
* Support all aspects medicines management within the hospice.
* Liaise with internal and external healthcare professionals.
* Work collaboratively with the inpatient multidisciplinary team to optimise patients’ medicines and reduce risk of medication errors.
* Problem-solving medication-related issues and queries.
* Procure medication for inpatient use and discharge from community pharmacy.
* Support and develop other members of the pharmacy and nursing team.
* Benefit from opportunities for service improvement, delivery of education and training and other personal and professional development opportunities.

This post provides service to the 19 inpatient beds over the 2 inpatient wards at Marie Curie hospice.

The pharmacy team work closely with the MDT providing high quality pharmaceutical services to patients within the unit managing complex palliative conditions. The invaluable impact of having a pharmacy technician supporting patient-centred care is well recognised at all levels of the MDT.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

* Is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Has a National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
* Has a Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
* Completed HN Unit: Procedures for Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technicians or Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Award (provided by Buttercups or NPA, 2019 or before)
* Has an HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent experience. However, individuals who do not possess this qualification but can demonstrate equivalent professional experience may also be considered. In such instances, a Mapping Assessment Form must be completed and submitted as part of the application process.
