Shift Maintenance Technician

About the Role
Wolviston Management Services, on behalf of our client, is recruiting for an experienced Shift Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Bias) to join a high-performing engineering team.
Working as part of a rotating shift pattern, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing key production equipment to support continuous operations. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment, ensuring plant reliability, minimising downtime, and upholding the highest safety standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities in line with the site maintenance schedule, ensuring operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
Respond swiftly to breakdowns and faults during shift, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing effective, lasting repairs.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime and improving plant performance.
Carry out dynamic risk assessments and ensure all work complies with LOTO, site safety systems, and environmental procedures.
Record maintenance activities using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintain accurate shift handover notes.
Liaise with production teams to prioritise repairs, plan interventions, and maintain equipment availability.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, adopting a "clean as you go" approach.
Assist in project work, installations, and equipment upgrades as required. What We're Looking For
Essential:
Time-served Maintenance Technician or equivalent with NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
Proven experience working within a manufacturing, processing, or industrial environment.
Strong mechanical and fault-finding capability, with good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Sound knowledge of preventative maintenance principles and CMMS operation.
Excellent awareness of Health & Safety, including LOTO and COSHH requirements.
Effective communicator with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Flexible approach to working rotating shifts and responding to operational priorities. Desirable:
HNC or City & Guilds in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Multi-skilled background with some electrical experience (PLC, inverter drives).
Experience within waste processing or similar continuous manufacturing settings. What's on Offer
