Age UK are building a world where every older person feels valued and included. We seek a Senior Legacy Marketing Manager to lead a high-performing team and deliver sector-leading cross-organisational legacy marketing campaigns.

* Location: Hybrid / London – one day per week in the office (One America Square, London, EC3N 2LB)
* Closing date: Rolling applications

Who we are

Age UK believes every older person should be included and valued. We’re working locally, nationally and internationally to change the way we age. Together with our partners, we’re changing the day-to-day experience of getting older through essential services and local support. We transform older people’s wellbeing in the ways that matter most to them – whether that’s getting online or getting more active.

Our specialist, impartial advice helps change older people’s worries into answers. And our friendship services change loneliness and isolation into comfort and connection. We campaign to put older people at the heart of public policy and shift the way ageing is treated and represented. Through Age International we are changing the lives of older people in low and middle-income countries.

Your support makes our work possible. By donating, campaigning and volunteering, you’ll help change older people’s lives – now and in the future.

About the role

The Senior Legacy Marketing Manager will lead the development and delivery of Age UK’s legacy marketing strategy, driving income growth through integrated, supporter-focused campaigns. You’ll oversee a high-performing marketing team, managing cross-organisational campaigns, creative development, new opportunities including new product development, while ensuring an engaging journey for supporters, from initial interest to confirmed pledger.

With a key focus on innovation and legacy pipeline development, you’ll bring vision and creativity to help deliver new products and marketing channels, alongside a data and supporter-centric approach.

You’ll manage significant budgets, ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and build strong working relationships with agencies, partners and internal stakeholders to deliver best-in-class performance.

As a senior leader, you’ll champion a culture of continuous learning and supporter-first thinking, ensuring that supporter enquiries and feedback are handled with care and professionalism. Success will be measured by increased legacy consideration, stronger conversion rates and effective pipeline management.

Who we are looking for

We seek a strategic and experienced marketing leader with a proven track record in delivering high-impact, integrated campaigns across multiple channels.

You’ll have hands-on experience in legacy and mid-value giving, driving pipeline development and supporter engagement.

You’ll lead a team with a clear strategic vision, confident coaching and developing teams and inspiring high performance. You will bring deep insight into supporter motivations and demonstrate empathy for the issues facing older people.

Exceptional project management will be essential to success in this role, as you’ll handle multiple campaigns simultaneously. You’ll be data-driven, using insight to inform decisions and continuously optimise campaign performance. A strong grasp of fundraising compliance and relevant codes of practice is essential.

You’ll also need to be a natural collaborator, comfortable managing relationships with internal teams, external agencies and partners, including the wider Age UK network. If you’re passionate about legacy giving and building long-term supporter value, we’d love to hear from you.

Welcome from the Fundraising and Engagement Director

Hello and thank you for considering a career at Age UK!

Thank you for considering this role at Age UK. Fundraising is the life-blood of everything we’re doing to build a world where every older person feels valued and included. As we embark on a new, ambitious five year strategy we need talented, passionate colleagues to join our award-winning fundraising team to help make this happen.

Millions of older people face intolerable hardships and inequalities: poverty, isolation, lack of dignity and support in our struggling health and care system. There is an urgent need for Age UK to do even more to tackle this.

As such, we’re ambitious to grow our income by taking the stories of older people to new audiences, bringing more supporters to our cause, and deepening the relationships we already have with our loyal, passionate donors. Our whole organisation is behind this vision – from our Board of Trustees to staff and volunteers across our services, marketing and influencing teams and retail network.

You may be familiar with some of our fundraising already. Our Christmas campaign shines a light on loneliness at a time for year that is particularly difficult for older people. Our Spread the Warmth campaign integrates fundraising messages with advice and support for older people during the colder winter months. Our Big Knit partnership with innocent has been running for over 20 years: winning numerous marketing and charity awards. And we were delighted this year to launch our new three year partnership with home retailer Dunelm: aiming to raise £2 million to build communities that feel like home for older people. We’re also proud of the high-value grants we secure from trusts, foundations and bodies such as the National Lottery and Sport England and our flourishing Legacies Fundraising programme comprising thousands of kind individuals who remember Age UK in their wills.

In the job pack you’ll find more information about our cause and hear from other colleagues in our Fundraising team. I’ve been at this amazing charity 12 years: what inspires me every day is the collaborative spirit across teams, the expertise and determination of colleagues and the measurable difference our fundraising has on the lives of vulnerable and overlooked older people locally, nationally and internationally.

Our team is ambitious. We’re driven by insight and what our supporters tell us, as well as amplifying the authentic voices and needs of the older people we serve. We’re also good fun to work with!

I hope you will consider bringing your expertise and passion to help Age UK build a better world for older people.

Thank you,

Hannorah Lee
Fundraising and Engagement Director
