The post holder will carry twenty-four hour continuing responsibility for the management of their respective ward. They will be highly experienced in general medical nursing and possess specialist knowledge and expertise in the area of rehabilitation. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a quality nursing service to all patients in their care, ensuring that all resources are used to optimum effect. They will be responsible for the devising and implementation of policies and procedures for their ward, which will ensure the highest standards of patient care within existing/current resources and which will ensure the highest standards and values/behaviours of the UHB. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of staff through the observance and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and also assist them in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs through the implementation of UHB policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Have a continuing responsibility of the management and the delivery of a 25 bedded rehabilitation/complex discharge mixed general ward ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
* Assist the Senior Nurse in developing systems and processes to monitor:
o quality of care
o adherence to policies and procedures
o clinical practice
* Deputise as necessary for the Senior
* Maximise the performance of all staff within delegated areas ensuring effective structures for the supervision and direction of work.
Welsh Skills Desirable
This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we will consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't "fluency", just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
