Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team on the Britvic contract. The role involves working with automated machinery in our pallet storage warehouse to store and retrieve finished products. The engineering team collaborates to prevent equipment failures that could impact customer demand.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Technician to advance their career with Wincanton.
The position is a 42.5-hour week contract, averaged over 17 weeks, with a 4 on 4 off shift pattern from 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am (2 days and 2 nights). Overtime is paid at 1.5x. The salary is up to £45,000.
How will you contribute?
1. Ensure all planned Preventative Maintenance schedules are completed on time and to a high standard.
2. Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks with a first-time fix approach.
3. Book out spares correctly according to asset.
4. Coordinate with Operation/Shift Managers to complete all PPM schedules and outstanding tasks set by the Engineering Manager.
5. Identify faults, rectify issues, and monitor performance continually via on-site systems.
6. Maintain customer service levels for equipment maintenance.
7. Work calmly and safely in high-pressure environments without risking others’ safety.
8. Adhere to company quality, health & safety objectives, and statutory obligations.
9. Contribute to the Engineering Safe System of Working procedures and Risk Assessments.
10. Work at heights up to 30 meters, including climbing ladders with safety harness.
11. Support business project work and site facilities.
What will you bring?
1. Completion of an indentured apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training; certificates required.
2. Qualification to HNC, ONC, BTEC, C&G level in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.
3. Knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC preferred but not essential; familiarity with Profibus and ASI Bus is also advantageous.
4. Innovative, flexible, analytical, and a team player capable of building strong relationships.
5. Proficient computer skills to operate control systems.
6. Experience with High Bay Automated Warehousing Automation or similar roles.
7. Understanding of site-wide activities beyond your own responsibilities.
8. Previous experience in a warehouse environment with knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer hardware systems.
