We are seeking a researcher with expertise in wave simulations to work with Prof Gregor Tanner and Dr Martin Richter on an EPSRC-funded project titled “xDEA - Vibro-acoustic energy flow in hybrid systems: improving the simulation of engineering structures”. This project, a collaboration between the University of Nottingham and the University of Salford, involves developing mathematical tools and models to analyze vibrational sources in large structures like cars or airplanes, incorporating experimental data into large-scale sound calculations.
The role involves mathematical analysis, numerical modelling, and code development to apply predictions to experimental results. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in linear wave equations, boundary element techniques, and high-frequency approximations, with experience extending existing codebases.
