Our client is a private investments office/wealth manager, one that invests for their clients on a long-term basis across both public and private asset classes, offering a truly focused approach to wealth management. The Founders have successfully built similar businesses before; this an early growth business that is well capitalised and debt-free, and as part of its growth strategy is now looking for a mid-senior level lawyer to join their team. In this role you will report directly to the Head of Legal and Compliance. This is a key hire and would suit someone looking for a long-term role, giving them the opportunity to grow with the business over the coming years. What will the role involve? To provide general legal assistance and advice on a variety of legal and regulatory issues (MiFID, AIFMD, UCITS, GDPR) relevant to the business; Negotiate and review of various agreements for the wealth management business i.e. confidentiality agreements, custody agreements, side letters, investment management agreements, advisory agreements, HR contracts; Structure, launch and maintain private equity co-investment access vehicles; Advise on global marketing restrictions to enable the firm to conduct its activities in accordance with local rules and regulations. What skills are we looking for? Qualified solicitor 4 years, ideally with some in-house experience; Experience in investment management/funds (including prior in-house experience); Regulatory/compliance experience and strong working knowledge of the FCA handbook; Understanding of investment fund structures (in particular private equity) and other investment products (AIFs and UCITS); In-house experience in working in an Asset Manager/Fund, Family Office/Wealth Manager or Private Equity house. What soft skills are we looking for? A self-starter, a problem-solver and someone who is highly organised; As this is a small, close-knit business, it requires someone with a high EQ who can sensitively deal with staff at all levels from the support staff to the Founders; Commercially minded and pragmatic; Strong attention to detail; Clear communication skills bracket (written and verbal); Experienced negotiator This is a broad, diverse legal role; for the right person this role allows you to ‘make your mark’ and offers a huge amount of career development and prospects.
