About the Role
As an Alternative Provision Assistant, you will work closely with students who may have social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. Your role will involve providing tailored support, building trusting relationships, and helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. You’ll assist in delivering engaging activities, managing behaviour positively, and supporting students’ personal development.

Key Responsibilities of Alternative Provision Assistant (APA)
* Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to students’ specific needs.
* Positive Behaviour Management: Use de-escalation techniques and promote positive behaviour strategies.
* Engaging Learning: Assist in delivering creative and practical lessons that inspire and motivate.
* Emotional Support: Build strong, supportive relationships with students to boost confidence and self-esteem.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress and wellbeing.
Requirements of Alternative Provision Assistant (APA)
* Previous experience in an educational or youth support role, particularly with SEMH or SEND students.
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain resilient and adaptable in challenging situations.
* Relevant training or qualifications in education, youth work, or mental health are desirable.
