Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Reporting to: Head of Pre-Prep
This position supports learning across our Pre-Preparatory year groups. Those with experience of working with young children and Teaching Assistant qualifications (HLTA level 5 or above) are invited to apply.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
* To work under the direction of a class teacher/Head of Pre-Prep to take responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of monitoring and supervision.
* To deliver teaching and learning objectives (with an agreed system of support) and evaluate and adjust lessons and planning as appropriate.
* To deliver learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes: monitoring and assessing pupils' achievements, recording and reporting on pupils' achievements, progress and development.
* To provide objective and accurate feedback as required on pupil achievement and progress (pastoral, academic and other matters as relevant), ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.
* To undertake administrative tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
* To supervise pupils at lunch and at playtime as a part of the staff duty rota.
* To ensure a safe and secure environment enabling pupils to feel relaxed and happy.
* To establish excellent working relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents, acting as a role model to pupils adhering to the highest professional standards at all times.
* To attend courses to aid continuing professional development.
* To remain up to date in knowledge of school policies, and to follow them fully.
* To be available to undertake any reasonable task that the teachers, Head of Pre-Prep, Deputy Head or Head Mistress may from time to time require.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* Possess a HLTA qualification (level 5 or above) or equivalent.
* Experience working with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils.
* A commitment and passion for education with a desire to be fully involved in the life of school.
* Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills with a caring manner with children.
A flexible approach to work, ability to balance priorities in a busy school environment.
Desirable
* A good understanding of independent schools and their rationale.
An interest and commitment in other areas i.e. sport, drama.
