Learning Support Assistant Vacancy - The Federation Abbey Infant and Junior School
The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistant Level 2 to join our committed and dedicated team. The successful candidate will work across the school predominantly with children with SEND. They will provide additional support during lessons as well as at lunchtimes.
The successful candidate should be proactive; show initiative and have a firm but fair approach. They should have the welfare and safety of our children at heart at all times. They may be required to support intimate care needs / toileting. The successful candidates will provide a high level of support for a range of children, including high need pupils on a 1:1 basis, and have the desire to make a difference to the children they support.
Qualities and experience
* A minimum of NVQ Level 2
* Good general education levels in English and Maths (level 2 at a minimum)
* Experience of working in an educational establishment as a Teaching Assistant
* Experience of supporting children with SEND
* A knowledge of the range of different types of learning difficulties, disabilities and challenging behaviour children may have / display
* Experience of providing support to children with varying challenges
* Ability to adapt to various working environments and children with differing abilities and / or needs
* Experience in creating resources to help the children they are supporting
* Experience in completing and recording observational assessments and contributing to the assessment judgements
* The ability to contribute to and sustain a high quality of educational provision for the children they work with
The person appointed will have high standards and expectations in all areas of school life and will be committed to a teamwork approach. They should have good interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude. They should be flexible in terms of working patterns. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering basic first aid, if required (training will be provided).
The Federation of Abbey Infant and Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups including children, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references are therefore required for this role. This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
