We are recruiting to a post in the Occupational Therapy Team on the Level 1 Neurorehabilitation Unit based at the Homerton Healthcare. The role includes supporting patients with their rehabilitation under the direction of qualified Occupational Therapists and associated duties managing the clinical space and equipment.
You will be part of a large team of different professionals and you will work with people with life changing brain injuries from across the South East. To be successful in the role you will have good rapport building skills, an empathic approach, flexibility, initiative and take direction well.
Main duties of the job
Occupational Therapy Assistants support patients to achieve the prescribed treatment plan from a qualified Occupational Therapist. This will include delegated responsibility for activities you complete alone, such as supporting patients with washing, dressing, meal preparation, splinting regimes, wheelchair training skills, cognitive rehabilitation tasks and group activities. You will also be involved in supporting the treating Occupational Therapist to complete rehabilitation tasks that require additional pairs of hand to practice or complete.
The role also will include responsibilities for the day to day management of the OT kitchen and OT equipment, in addition to other activities relevant to the role, such as monitoring the stock of consumable items and environmental and other audits.
