We are looking for a Lead Ambassador for Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour to be part of our talented Culinary Team as Sous Chef. The ambassador should have an eye for detail, a passion for creating luxury and emotional culinary experiences for our guests, and developing a wonderful team.

Job Description
Our Ambassador will be:
* Managing daily food preparation, production, and implementation of menus designed to deliver innovative, safe food that meets market and customer needs within budget guidelines.
* Hands-on supervision of the restaurant.
* Meeting and exceeding customer and guest expectations, enabling the Food & Beverage operation to be recognized for consistent, quality, and value-for-money cuisine.
* Ensuring food standards, preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques are maintained.
* Striving continually for innovative, quality, value-for-money food presented and served in the most flattering way.
* Leading employees by setting a positive example.
* Assisting with menu preparation and ensuring adequate supplies for service.
* Maintaining excellent presentation standards and cost control.
* Preparing and presenting menu items with variety and flair within specified cost margins.
* Ensuring strict stock rotation and minimal wastage, with proper stock control procedures.
* Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene to meet health and safety regulations.
* Cultivating a positive work environment focused on learning and personal development.
* Collaborating closely with the Restaurant Manager, Supervisors, and Food and Beverage attendants to meet operational objectives.
* Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on procedures.
* Training new employees and apprentices.
* Preparing and cooking food on shift.
* Overseeing payroll costs.
* Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, contractors, and team members.
Qualifications
* Minimum two years of commercial cookery experience in a similar role.
* Level 5 or above tertiary education in Cookery.
* At least three years of leadership experience within kitchen operations.
* Willingness for further development with Sofitel.
* Physically fit to stand for an 8-hour shift.
* Efficient in organizing time and work.
* Willing to work weekends and public holidays.
* Professional appearance and interpersonal skills.
* Effective numeracy and communication skills.
* Ability to train, mentor, and develop staff.
* Capacity to handle stress effectively.
* Ability to initiate contacts and establish rapport easily.
