Overview
Systems Engineers - Global Combat Air Programme role at Leonardo. The role is based in Luton with a predominantly office and laboratory-based environment. Candidates should have systems engineering skills and five years of UK residency.
What You’ll Do
* Development of Requirements and Test Plans
* Control of Parts and Documentation, including change management
* Collaboration with multi-functional teams on system and sub-system development for Tempest and the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP)
* Work with suppliers, integrators, and users across the UK
* Engage with stakeholders, define requirements for a new system
* Conduct cost and functional performance trade-offs and evaluation of proposed solutions
* Model a system to understand observed simulated performance
* Develop capability within limitations and constraints of the target hardware
* Design and conduct testing and trials to prove equipment function and performance
* Lead technical activities and initiatives where possible
* Mentor and coach other engineers
* Prepare reports and proposals for customers and industry partners
* Support knowledge sharing and the exploitation of good practice
What You’ll Bring
* A science-based Honours degree or equivalent experience
* Experience or interest in gaining electronic warfare domain knowledge
* Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle, including:
o Problem definition
o Requirements engineering, including the use of IBM DOORS
o Systems Architecture
o Synthetic Environments
o Systems Modelling and Analysis
o Integration
o Verification and Validation
o Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Desirable: experience with related specialisms such as safety, security, airworthiness, or reliability; domain-specific knowledge such as digital signal processing, RF systems, multi-sensor data fusion and tracking, real-time data simulation/generation, military electronic systems, data analysis using AI or machine learning, or Electronic Warfare operational experience.

This role requires pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and National Security Vetting (NSV), including eligibility for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
