Job Description
Acting as a senior strategic advisor, you will collaborate with operational leaders and partner with stakeholders at C‑suite level to challenge traditional thinking, stimulate debate, and unlock sustainable value creation. You will also act as a cross‑functional innovation lead, strengthening customer relationships and positively shifting market perceptions.Key Responsibilities
3. Lead and mentor high‑performing teams across strategy and innovation (3-8 direct reports)
4. Drive commercial innovation across the business using creative, disruptive, and future-focused thinking
5. Manage major strategic projects and ensure alignment with the wider commercial strategy
6. Build trusted partnerships with customers and senior leaders
7. Identify commercial and environmental innovation opportunities, creating new value propositions
8. Support Net Zero and decarbonisation initiatives for both the organisation and customers
9. Develop sustainability‑led commercial offerings
10. Collaborate with academic and research partners to advance insight and capability
11. Champion our organisational values and mission across the industry
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
12. Experienced leader within the waste, environmental, or related sectors
13. Proven track record managing cross‑functional, high-performing teams
14. Strong strategic thinker with the ability to embed and execute long-term plans
15. Influential communicator with experience engaging senior leadership
16. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
17. High commercial acumen and the ability to work autonomously
18. Excellent analytical skills and long-term strategic insight
19. Strong understanding of ecological transformation
20. IOSH Managing Safely certification
21. Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent experience
22. Relevant degree
23. Knowledge of PRINCE2 or similar project management methodologies
24. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methods
