Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious surgeon to join the Bath Urology team on a 12‑month Locum basis.
The post holder will be part of a team of Consultant Urological Surgeons in a supportive environment. Consultants share general workload and 2‑week wait service. The unit comprises six consulting rooms, a dedicated cystoscopy/minor‑ops suite, urodynamics room, LATP biopsy room, inpatient theatre and a range of facilities.
The department offers a comprehensive Urology service with nine Consultants, trainees, fellows and junior doctors, supporting wards and emergency care by dedicated urology nurse practitioners and specialist nurses.
Applicants should be on or eligible for inclusion onto the GMC Specialist Register for urology, be within six months of obtaining a CCT (or equivalent) at interview, or be pursuing a CESR application.
Responsibilities
The holder will act as a Locum Consultant Urological Surgeon. Duties include
* Providing general urology services and 2‑week wait service
* Developing specialist interests such as stone service, minimally invasive treatments for BPH, prostate cancer diagnostics and paediatric urology
* Participating in audit, directorate and governance meetings
* Assuming administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician of Urology
* Maintaining professional expertise through meetings, courses and CPD diary completion
* Engaging in research and teaching projects in collaboration with the University of Bath
Professional Development Expectations
Regular attendance at MDT, departmental and governance meetings is mandatory. An annual appraisal and CPD completion are required.
A continuous interest in research and teaching is expected, with participation in projects to raise the department’s profile.
Qualifications
* FRCS(Urol) or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration
* Specialist Interest in Robotic Surgery
Desirable Qualifications
* Additional higher medical or scientific degree relevant to the specialty
* Specialist interest in pelvic or renal oncology
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCST
* Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Desirable Clinical Experience
* Willingness to learn and expand all aspects of Urology
* Robotic Fellowship experience
