Join to apply for the Finance Director role at Horder Healthcare
Horder Healthcare is seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to join their Executive Team at a pivotal time in the charity’s journey. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the financial strategy of a well-established, values-led organisation that delivers outstanding orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care across both NHS and private sectors.
As Finance Director you will hold overarching responsibility for the financial leadership playing a critical role in shaping long-term sustainability, driving commercial growth, and ensuring robust governance and accountability. This pivotal role offers a competitive salary in the range of £80,000 to £100,000 per annum, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
You will work closely with a small but dynamic Executive team, Board of Trustees, and senior leaders to stabilise and enhance the finance function, drive improvements, and position Horder Healthcare for strategic development and innovation. This role requires a commercially astute leader, someone happy to get into the detail but with a strong grasp of financial strategy in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment—ideally with an NHS or private healthcare background.
Main Duties of the Job
As Finance Director, you will lead the development and implementation of Horder Healthcare’s 5-year financial strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and long-term sustainability. You will oversee capital investment planning, financial forecasting, and resource allocation while providing strategic financial guidance to the CEO and Board.
You will also be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the finance function, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance. A key focus will be stabilising the department—improving financial controls, rebuilding internal credibility, and embedding a culture of accountability and transparency. Managing cash flow, reserves, and banking relationships will also be central to your role.
In addition, you will support the organisation’s commercial growth by evaluating business cases, negotiating contracts, and enabling private service expansion. You'll lead performance management initiatives, harness data for informed decision-making, and ensure robust governance through active engagement with the Board and key committees.
